Children of the Confederacy

The Children of the Confederacy is an auxiliary of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

The CofC is open to both boys and girls who are lineal or collateral descendants of an eligible Confederate Ancestor.

Children who are adopted must use the bloodline of their biological birth parents for membership.

The age of eligibility for the CofC is birth until the close of the first CofC Annual General Convention after their 18th birthday. Male CofC members are allowed to hold dual membership in the CofC and the SCV (Sons of Confederate Veterans).

CofC members are engaged in a wide variety of activities to meet the Organization’s objectives. There are meetings and field trips to attend. Members learn to care for their communities by donating funds and time to charitable causes. Children of the Confederacy hold Officer positions in the Organization, learning to work with others and preparing them to be leaders in their communities.

Children of the Confederacy seek to:

Honor and perpetuate the memory and deeds of high principles of the men and women of the Confederacy.
To observe properly all Confederate Memorial Days.
To strengthen the ties of friendship among members of the Organization.
To serve society through civic affairs and to perpetuate National patriotism as our ancestors once defended their beliefs.

Eligibility for the Children of the Confederacy

Open to boys and girls, aged from birth to 18 years (can continue membership until the Annual General CofC Convention after their 18th birthday

Be a blood descendant of a lineal or collateral ancestor who served honorably in the Confederate Army, Navy, or Civil Service, or gave material aid to the Cause or who are lineal or collateral descendants of members of the United Daughters of the Confederacy whose papers are acceptable by the present requirements for membership.

A membership application and genealogical proof documents must be submitted to prove lineage eligibility.

Children do NOT need to live near the chapter they join. We even have TX CofC members who live in other states.
